season's greetings

Are you all ready and shopped-out for the holidays? I'm glad I am done. I've only major wrapping to do.

I wanted to share these photo prints from labokoff called "Pole series" just because these are gorgeous...

And here is a great holiday playlist I found on dailycandy. Perfect to listen to while I deck the halls and make spirits bright!

some things to share

How's your holiday shopping going? Are you all done? Well, I've got my amazon cart full, but haven't checked out yet. I like how you can get your stuff delivered to different addresses in one swooping checkout! Anyway, just in case you need some ideas, here are a few things...

Of course I'd love this! (from alliterations etsy shop)

Aren't these log bowls gorg! (from Loyal Loot via)

The following may not be a great stocking stuffer, hee hee, but it sure is awesome. This giant clipboard is from Kidtropolis. The 'paper' is a dry-erase whiteboard, and the paper-clipped note is cork! Totally cool for keeping our busy schedules in check.

And just because... I love these gingham envelopes. Perfect for those after-Christmas thank you letters you'll write, right? They are from Stripe & Field.

Have a happy hump day!

cutes-day tuesday

The Pretend Bear doll (via)

Have you heard of Black Apple Dolls? They are the cutest felt dolls ever.
I love these. Z wants to make one. Creator Emily Martin was featured on Martha so now you can watch a how-to video on her site. Emily doesn't seem to have any of these for sale on her Black Apple etsy shop right now, but she has other great gift ideas made from her art.

I love her art prints:

And these paper dolls:

You can read more about what goes on Inside a Black Apple on the blog with the same name, here. ;)
Enjoy!

rewined: upcycling wine bottles

If you've ever been to my house you've seen my collection of wine bottles. It happened quite by accident. I just didn't want to toss out my first handful after a party. I wanted to use them for something. Then, there was one more here and one more there...

Months later, when we moved to this house, I failed to mention to the movers that they were to be left behind. Lo and behold, as I unpacked one of a zillion boxes that summer, I realized that over a dozen collected bottles made their way across the country with us. So... here they are. Collecting dust and growing. I still have no idea what I am going to do with them.

Every so often I find great ideas. Now I just have to Do It. Check it out:

Ok, this is my goal! Wine bottle dome. (via)

Now we're talking! (via greentopia)
Have any other ideas? I do have a few dozen corks too... eek. Am I becoming a hoarder? Hmm, ok lets not go there.

Happy Monday!

color-full

Z had to wear all the colors of the rainbow today to her kindergarten class. She had no problem putting them all together. I, on the other hand, have been told I need to turn it up a notch and add some color to my life. It is true that I prefer the dark and somber hues of Fall. So I've been thinking about it a bit and I've decided that I do love vibrant jewel tones. Ruby and emerald and aquamarine are rich and happy colors. Here are some very colorific ideas...

via

By far, I think this color combination below is my favorite. This color/mood board is fabulous. Mind you, I will most likely never wear these together, but I do love purple and I am partial to teal. The kiddies and hubs have mentioned a few times that Teal is my color (when I wear the ONE sweater I have in this shade). And remember my post on blue hair?

How do you express or bring color to your life? Do you mix it up or stick to the tried and true?

TGIF! Have a great weekend.

excavation... or things i'm diggin'

NYC map

In any good excavation you need maps to guide your way... Here are a few lovely maps courtesy of Famille Summerbelle. They are a lovely shop from the UK with fab gifts of all kinds.

Paris

London

I'm all over Etsy. It's one of my top places to find amazing handmade goods. Today, this necklace caught my eye:

Gorgeous or gorgeous? It's from La Petite Boheme. And I also found this ultra-versatile alphabet rolling rubber stamp:

Isn't it a grand idea? A stamper with ALL the letters. Genius. I want. It's from this shop, but sadly sold out.

And last but not least, I'm diggin' some hair styles. I've had short hair most of my life and I am letting it grow but can't decide which way to go:

What should I do... Any thoughts?

spoonflower

Have you heard of Spoonflower? You can design and print your own fabrics! Isn't that swell? Or you can just buy from their shop which is full of unusual and funky designs.

Wouldn't this fabric make a great handbag? And this one, below, I think would make a cute dress for an American Doll that someone I know is getting for Christmas.

Here are some more great fabric prints I like. Not sure what I'll do with them... Any ideas?

You can visit Spoonflower here. Have a great Tuesday! xo

hush... and lounge the day away

Doesn't the freezing weather just make you want to stay in your pajamas all day? We can't really have that now, can we? Can we? Well, in comes HUSH. They are a U.K.-based company that makes great nightwear and loungewear that is très à la mode!

I particularly love their loungewear. I'm not one to hang out in my sweats-- ever. I enjoy comfortable yet presentable attire :) Here are some of my favorite looks:

Aha, I'm loving it... hee hee. Hush's nightwear is nice too. I'd answer the door in their PJs! You can see more of Hush clothing on their site.

tee + ruffles = pret-tee

Here's a great tutorial from Robin at All Things Heart & Home. This altered tee is so cute and quite easy to make. Check it out:

What do you think? Pretty doable right? She used two cheap t-shirt. One to cut and one to adorn :) You can visit her blog post here. Happy sewing!
