I love Todd McLellan's photographic art project. This Canadian photographer disassembles and carefully arranges the inner parts and components of neat stuff such as typewrites, cameras, etc... Check it out:

it's been a while

Sorry loves for taking too much time off. I know I've been slacking. But in my defense I have been taking a nice break, beach-side, with martini in hand as I dreamed a few posts back...

I'm a bit behind with what is going on in the interwebs, but did you hear in NPR about the lost roll of film that some guy found in NYC?

Well the photos were amazing. Todd Bieber (of no relation to K's teen idol) found the canister in Prospect Park. He wanted to find the owner/photographer. So he made a video and posted it on YouTube and the adventure that followed is amazing...

He made so many wonderful connections throughout the world while searching for the owners. And after many months, finally, he was contacted by Camille, the owner. You can read more about the ending here. It's great!

Here's a video that Todd made about The Return of The Lost Film. Love it!!!! Not only is it fun, spontaneous, adventurous and romantic... it ends in Paris. Oui!

the sartorialist - visual fashion commentator

On occasion I go to The Sartorialist to see what regular [read: fashionable] people are wearing out on the streets. That's what Scott Schuman does. He photographs men and women all over the world that visually interests him and he posts his pics online. He (and his blog) is "one of Time Magazine's top 100 Design Influencers."

Intel recently documented Schuman for their Visual Life campaign:



Interesting, no? Ahhhh... to travel the world and take lovely pictures of pretty people....

elena kalis - underwater photography

These beautiful images are by photographer Elena Kalis who imagined an underwater Wonderland for the classic tale of Alice. Her rendition is as whimsical and vibrant as the recent Tim Burton movie.

She is a Russian-born visual artist living in the Bahamas who specializes in underwater photography.
In this particular tale of Alice in Wonderland, she uses her daughter as model re-creating gorgeous, amazing underwater scenes.

Lavazza's 2011 calendar is out. For some cult item collectors, this is hot. I am not one of those, but I did find it amusing and beautiful at the same time. This year's theme is Amore, specifically "falling in love in Italy."

This "passionate and light-hearted photographic journey" was shot by American celebrity photographer Mark Seliger. He captures the romance and sensuality of a country where everything is art and everyone falls in love. I cannot vouch for this as I have not visited Italy, but my brother and his wife swear that it was Italy that allowed for them to naturally conceive their one and only child.

Each scene is set in a different part of the country. The  calendar states, "perhaps there’s something in the air that ignites passion. Or maybe it’s the beauty of the scenery and the architecture which naturally arouses that most noble of sentiments: love." Well I want to find out :) ... fanciful photography: tim walker

I was looking though the latest Anthropologie catalog and was admiring the whimsical photography. It reminded me of some really great photos I have seen in Vogue. Specifically, the work of Tim Walker. Now, his work is amazing!

What do you think? Walker is a London-based photographer whose extravagant settings and magical images are very popular in the Fashion photography world.

I happen to appreciate the clothes, the styling, the photography. And of course the kids are cute, like all kids. But, fashion for kids has its controversy. Pageants are gross, brands are bull, etc, etc... I agree. But I like what I like. And I love these cute clothes and pics.

Lovely.  But let me just say, I will not spend more than $20 on any one piece of clothing for my kids. Maybe for a jacket or boots ... But really, I find it outrageous to spend a pretty penny on things that a kid will either outgrow or wear *maybe* twice. That's me. My kids wear whatever they want anyway. I believe in freedom of [fashion] expression.

And, I still ♥ these mini fashions.

sweet baby dreams

I wanted to share with you today a lovely site I came across. It's a mom's blog where she documents her baby's "daydreams". It's called Mila's Daydreams, appropriately enough.

I came across a site that I will have to visit au quotidien. It is called Beautiful Portals and it's a collection of just that. Beautiful portals. The 'curators' scour the net in search of special places. They describe it as follows:

You're here, and when you go through them, you're there. They're beautiful, meaningful or just fun. They're doors, roads, bridges, corridors, wardrobes, or event horizons.

Aren't these just fabulous? Enjoy.

these pics don't lie

A couple of times a week I make my way over to etsy to window shop. The selection of gorgeousness is unlimited. Today I'm sharing some thing that caught my eye. No joke. The photography, really, is what makes these items stand out. I mean, do I really need a fuzzy bear brooch? Or some cute-ass aprons? (I'm no pro in the kitchen but I've passed the Splatter 101 part.)

Seriously though, as a "future" etsy shop owner, I'm glad to be reminded that looks (photos) are everything.
