tree of codes

I love Jonathan Safran Foer. My favorite book of his is Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close (Much to one of my friend's dismay [Angie!] ). Anyway, I had no idea he had a new book. And it's a work of art. I'm not speaking about the writing (I'll let you know what I think when I read it), but about the actual printed book.

About The Tree of Codes:
Inspired to exhume a new story from an existing text, Jonathan Safran Foer has taken his "favorite" book, The Street of Crocodiles by Polish-Jewish writer Bruno Schulz, and used it as a canvas, cutting into and out of the pages, to arrive at an original new story told in Jonathan Safran Foer's own acclaimed voice.
Anyway, London-based designer Sara de Bondt designed the book and it is an amazing process. Here is a 'making-of' video:

Can't wait to get my hands on this one! I'll let you know what I think.

Have a great looooong weekend!

power to post

Hello darlings... I am powerless. Literally. Had tornado warnings last night and though the tornado did not come through, the strong winds did do some damage to trees around town. One of which landed on the powerlines to my house. ONLY my house. Go figure!!

Anyway, thanks to lovely friends and neighbors we are surviving :) Hope you Cincinnati folks are doing well too.

Anyway, here is a quick post of neat stuff I've found around the interwebs...

I love love love this kimono. It would be amazing to actually wear. The whole outfit rocks!

disassembly art

I love Todd McLellan's photographic art project. This Canadian photographer disassembles and carefully arranges the inner parts and components of neat stuff such as typewrites, cameras, etc... Check it out:

Wouldn't these make great posters? Anyway... Hope you are had a great (sunny!) weekend.

po campo

Check out these lovely bags from Po Campo. Made in Chicago, these bike accessories are adorable. I so want one for my bicycle (when I get one, hee hee). The designers behind the brand are two fashionable ladies that needed to stay chic while traveling all over town on their bikes. So, voilà:

This last one above is my favorite, but I'd get it in this material:

These bags are not only for your bike, they can go on strollers or just act like regular handbags with extra benefits, such as convenient cords for carrying your yoga mat!

These cool bags are available on the Po Campo site or in select stores near you.

Happy hump day!

some great ideas

One of my pet peeves is not properly closing bags of food. I have bought and own those little clips from IKEA and those work great. If they didn't disappear on me! I swear, where do they go? Anyway.... I came across this neat little gadget. Dont' you love it:

These cards are classic! Don't you want to run off to the printer and get yourself a set to keep in your car???

I don't have to explain why these Oreo-stuffed chocolate chip cookies are AMAZING:

And because the weekend is almost here... this little cocktail sound delish!!

Enjoy! (And a great big shoutout to my sweetie on his birthday! ♥ )

polaroid magnets

Aren't these the best little magnets? It's a great idea. All you need are some of your favorite pics, some cardboard and magnetic tape... You can get all the deets from abrosiagirl's blog.

I will be going to the Crafty Supermarket art show this Saturday and I'm sure I'll be drooling over tons of lovely handmade items. (I'll also be annoyed that I have been totally slacking off and have zero wares for my next craft show--- but that's another story.)

OK, well it's hump day. Hope it's a good one.

Cheers. xo

wedge-y for spring?

The wedge is probably my favorite type of shoe. They come in myriad of forms and colors and you can go about town and all around with barely a blister! Here is a sampling of some of the seasons loveliest (and most comfortable!) shoes...

via StyleCaster

Very nice, no? And these here are a bit funkier and more my-kind-of-shoe!

via SegSox

Here are some fun (and let's just say $outrageous$) shoes that are trés fun (though wedge-less):

Hope you are having a fabulous day!
